Beyonce Knowles Biography

Born on 4 September 1981 in Houston, Texas, Beyonce Knowles is a songwriter, record producer, R&B singer, and American actress. From a family with French origin, her father Mathew acts as her manager with her mother Tina, being her stylist, while younger sister Solange too is a singer.

Beyonce’s childhood was anything but normal. She was 8 when she ran into LaTayla Robertson during auditions for a girls musical group. Her manager and father Mathew later united the pair with LeToya Luckett. Cousin Kelly Rowland joined the group in 1992 for a performance on Star Search.

Small gigs and label shopping followed before the four ladies formally organized themselves into Destiny’s Child. Their debut single No, No, No released in 1997, going multi-platinum for a promising start. Media popularity was instant and their self-titled debut wowed one and all.

Beyonce Knowles, heads Destiny’s Child as singer and co-composer. In 2002, she scooped the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) title of Pop Songwriter of the Year, becoming the 1st black woman and only the 2nd woman to achieve the honor.

Knowles made her acting debut in MTV’s Hip Hopera: Carmen in 2001 and a co-starring role as Foxxy Cleopatra In Mike Myers’ James Bond spoof Goldmember in 2002. Others followed in 2004 with The Fighting Temptations and The Pink Panther. A starring part in the film version of the smash 1961 Broadway musical Dreamgirls is scheduled for a December opening.

During summer holidays in 2006 Beyonce Knowles secretly recorded a video in a mere 3 weeks, promising a break for herself. She cites Dreamgirls the movie being a major inspiration for her album, B-Day (Freakum Dress, Deja Vu, Get Me Bodied, Irreplaceable, Green Light, Kitty Kat, Resentment, Suga Mama, Ring the Alarm, Upgrade U).
